Sample Response to Report Writing for Paper 2 October/November 2016 series for Cambridge IGCSE FLE 0500.

The Global Statistics Report recently published data on missing personalities, and thousands have been reported missing. 20-year-old Caribbean voyager Selkirk was found, castaway amidst the South Sea Atoll this Thursday, until he was rescued by the Island's Rescue Team.

The Rescue Operations Team revealed some intriguing informal chats among the crew members. Captain Stradling loathed rebellion, on the grounds of which Selkirk was abandoned merely with his possessions, his chest, some soiled sheets, and some spare clothes, without any food or edible products. Divulging further details, the team also reported that the ship had been devoid of pest control, which eventually took a toll on the ship's wooden material and other paraphernalia. Nevertheless, there was no point jumping on the bandwagon, so Selkirk offered a word of advice to his fellow sailors not to voyage ahead, however, his pleadings fell on deaf ears. Reportedly, Selkirk exclaimed, "I desperately wanted to be taken on board  but in vain."

Upon further probe, it was discovered that Selkirk demonstrated spectacular survival skills on the Island, which is seemingly laudable as he thrived for several months in solitude. Selkirk was seen boasting, "Nothing could overpower my spirit, neither the hailstorms nor the howling island creatures".  To keep his isolation at bay, Selkirk honed his culinary skills, savouring some wild salmon and cod with marine herbs. Claims suggest that Selkirk with his keen observation skills sought oneness with nature and made it therapeutic for himself.

Our onsite island correspondents claim that Captain Stradling was exposed as he maintained his 'hard nut to crack' image throughout the expedition. He also issued caveats not to offer a helping hand to Selkirk to avoid heightened mutiny, despite knowing the red zone ahead. He is criticised for endangering the lives of several men, by giving the green signal to the sailors to embark ahead. The Peruvian coast guards airlifted 31 others and the search is ongoing.

Hope the above sample report writing answer helps students with what they need at this crucial hour of exam preparation.
